The Project "ODS & Arte"

Nemécio Muller

"The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) immerse us in global concepts that lead us to relate to geopolitics. To sail through all territories. To discover the world with a feel of passion for the senses of transversality that move the globe: air, earth, water, wind, nature, climate, energy, inequalities, environment, culture, gender equality, poverty, hunger, partnerships, cities, villages, tribes, peace and justice.

And because of that commitment and love for the 17 SDGs of the UN 20/30 Agenda, the project ODS&ARTE PARANÁ was conceived. A legacy of languages that surpasses territories and walks us with seventeen thoughts translated through Contemporary Art. To contemplate the first of a wide spectrum of cultural manifestations about to come is without a doubt, a way to stimulate and transcend global boarders.

A new look at the world, as John Butler said, rises from the idea: “Art changes people and people change the world"

"17 artists from Curitiba, State of Parana – Brazil, gathered around an art project to stimulate the dissemination and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are focused on the UN 2030 Agenda.

The artists were given the task of interpreting and creating, each within their language, an image that reunifies the 17 SDGs by means of their art. Their challenge was to transpose their creations within a 90x90x4cm canvas and pine frame. All works were painted with non-toxic water-based acrylic paint to prioritize sustainability. This concept takes into account originality, creativity and respect for the environment.

We are the result of a social, cultural, historical and artistic process. In order to make cultural changes within the core of sustainable development and citizenship policies, we need to encourage broadening our visions to find new ways that allow humanity to avoid the consequences of global impacts.

We artists, ODS&ARTE PARANA team, gathered around a cultural project, which aims to encourage and foster art. ODS&ARTE PARANA does not have an end in itself. In fact, its purpose is to become an itinerant tool for the diffusion and awareness of UN 2030 Agenda SDGs.

It is not possible to be indifferent. Either we act now or life on this planet will become impossible. Let us build a work with systemic and measurable emphasis on cultural contributions for sustainable development. We have the duty and obligation to leave a true legacy for future generations."
